About

Welcome to my personal website! Shereen here. I am a medical writer and editor. Healthcare, regardless of the topic, has intrigued me ever since I was young enough to still get a lollipop at the doctor’s office (possibly one reason that drew me in!).

Besides being a dedicated science nerd, I grew up with a thirst for adventure amidst my quiet suburban upbringing in Texas. After earning my Bachelor of Arts (BA) in International Relations & Global Studies from The University of Texas at Austin, I relocated to Shanghai, China, initially for a 6 months stint as a marketing strategist for a Chinese manufacturer. I didn’t know a single person when I moved to Shanghai, but six months turned into six years (going on seven) living in East Asia. You could say I really like it out here.

Before moving to China, I didn’t know what to expect in the foreseeable future, but I knew one thing for sure: that I was passionate about public health, and that at some point I would pursue a Master of Public Health (MPH). After living in Shanghai for 1.5 years, I moved to Hong Kong and earned my MPH at The University of Hong Kong.

Fortunately, I have since been able to combine my three biggest passions in life: healthcare, writing, and travel. I have had the opportunity to work in public policy research and academia, presiding in various roles including researcher, writer, program coordinator, data analyst, and social media strategist. Regardless of the role, I am passionate for writing and unleashing my creativity through content creation.

While I am not currently working and taking a break from medical communications, please feel free to take a look through my website and keep me in mind for future needs.
